Biology 101 DVD

June 16th, 2009 (No Comments)

I used the Biology 101 curriculum with a high school co-op that met once a week.  The dvds clearly presented the material,  but still gave me flexibility to expand as interest was given.  Plus it kept me on track when we could have spent the whole year on one of the units… say botany.  It [...]

3-D Torso Puzzle

June 15th, 2009 (No Comments)

This little anatomy puzzle has been a welcome addition to our science curriculum.  The 3-D Torso Puzzle provides a perspective on the human body that cannot be achieved through two dimensional/paper illustrations, and it is being extremely portable.  The entire model with instructions fit in a sandwich bag which is great for storage. Speedminton Family Set

June 13th, 2009 (No Comments)

We love Speedminton! We have tried many outdoor games that don’t work due to limited space or multiple ages and skill levels. Speedminton meets all of these challenges and more. We can make up our own court space based on our oddly shaped yard with uneven ground. Any age can play, and in fact a [...]

Bananagrams

June 12th, 2009 (No Comments)

We love Bananagrams.  We take it with us when we visit people.  It is easy to explain and play.  It is one of those games when as you are playing you think, this is impossible, or I’m really stuck, but then all of a sudden, it works out and the race is on to finish [...]

Set Game

June 11th, 2009 (No Comments)

Our whole family, even Dad, loves Set Game! I began using it as a math substitute for our ‘Math Fun Fridays’ where we play a math, logic, or thinking game instead of doing math lessons–but my kids (from age 8 & up) beg to play it all the time! It’s great because being older doesn’t [...]

Destruct 3

June 10th, 2009 (No Comments)

We were playing Destruct 3 within 5 minutes of taking it out the box! With simple instructions, a fast pace, and sometimes surprising results, this game is an all around winner. Additionally, this game is well constructed and sturdy enough to stand up to heavy use. Dawn Berryville, VA

Air Traffic Control Tower

June 9th, 2009 (No Comments)

Air Traffic Control Tower is a good thinking game. There are only 6 clear pieces with one plane on each to fit in, but with the different backgrounds and three different levels it becomes deceptively challenging. All background cards and puzzle pieces fit in a slide out drawer under the game. Great for travel. Lillian [...]

Carson X-Scope

June 8th, 2009 (No Comments)

This is the coolest gadget. Both of my sons, age 7 and 12 love this tool. It is the perfect thing for young “explorers” to take outside. Instead of packing several items -binoculars, a flashlight, a whistle, a compass, etc. they can grab the X-Scope and go. Would also be great to keep an extra [...]

BOB Books Set 1: Beginning Readers

June 6th, 2009 (1 Comment)

All four of my children, now 18, 15, 8, and 6 years old, have learned to read with the help of Bob Books.  The simple phonetic and sight words with cute line drawings give them such a feeling of accomplishment because they are able to read a real book!  The Bob Books bridge an awkward [...]

We love PrismaColor 36-Piece Pencil.  It’s a great assortment of colors for all of our art projects, and we’ve used them in our science curriculum also (when drawing models, etc.)  We highly recommend these pencils to anyone! Kim Batavia, Ohio
