All the reproducibles on your computer!
If you are like me the thought of going to a copy store to be ready for school next week is not high on my list of fun things to do. Mystery of History is a great program and the Mystery of History Reproducibles CD makes the program even better. It is so easy to open and print what I want when I need it. I love having the access at my fingertips instantly. Highly recommend adding this if you are using Mystery of History.
Impacting my 4 year old
Manners Made Easy for the Family has been just that for us. We began when my youngest was only 4 years old and he has remembered amazingly well. He is often the first to answer questions about previous lessons. The fun roll playing exercises after some of the lessons may be a bit silly and giggly at first, but it gives the children the practice to solidify the manner in their memories. The short lessons as well as the small 6 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ size make it ideal for the living room end table. It is a fast pick up when you have a few minutes. The topics cover a wide range of manners including church manners. I highly recommend this book as a painless way to teach manners to the whole family.
Studypod? YES, please!
Do you remember in high school, back in the dark ages when you took keyboarding as a class, with a real typewriter, and they had those specially made books that stood up so you could read them without holding them? Well this takes the concept a step further, by being usable with ANY book. Honestly, I think I’ve found this more useful than my kiddos with me developing old lady hands and really appreciating the chance to read without the hand strain and nurse while reading without having to use a hand to hold a book. However, this also is very handy for copywork in particular and specifically the Bible copywork books that Timberdoodle sells- because how frustrating is it to be copying from the Bible, your Bible flat on the table, being held open by whatever object is nearby to anchor it open only to have the item fall off and have to find your place several more times… Why deal with all that when the StudyPod is such a reasonable price!

This book reminds you to keep your focus on God and your relationship with Him in the midst of the Everyday Battles we all encounter. I have just finished reading through this book myself, and I am looking forward to reading it aloud to my family as we have all (girls included) enjoyed Bob Schultz’s previous books. With many more humorous and memorable examples along with great applications of spiritual truth, this book will be among the treasured ones on our bookshelves.
Put this on your child’s wish list for them!
We held off on buying these for years because of the price, but when we lucked out and happened to see they were on sale last year before Christmas one day we jumped on the offer quickly to try them out and haven’t regretted the purchase yet! If anything, we wish we would have invested in one (or more) sooner! Works as well as everyone else describes. Car trips and camping trips and overnights at the grandparents where all the kids share a room are now much more pleasant because the kids are all readers and we don’t have the light problems like we did before. It’s pricier, but I’d go straight for the bigger one (my kids don’t read a lot of smaller paperbacks), and the case as well (my kids are somewhat careless and I’d like to protect my investment as long as possible!) If these are properly returned to their cases after use, they should last for all my kids childhoods!
Just what I needed…
I bought this (Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches) thinking “how will I find time to read this, with all the books I already haven’t read??” I am so thankful I took the plunge! First, I was so relieved to receive the book and find it is small, less than 100 pages, and has quick-read chapters. I finished half of it in under an hour! But the best part is, Rachel hit the nail on the head. Does she live at my house?? Its like she knows exactly what’s going on in my head. Yikes. But what a fantastic perspective she has. How often do I get frustrated with my children’s behavior, but the reality is that they are acting no better than I am?? How often do I simply forget the temptations they have overcome because they have been replaced by other annoyances? Rachel is very good at reminding us of our own shortcomings, and also giving encouraging ways to train our children. Definitely the best book I have read in quite some time! And it provided the encouragement I really needed right now! Thanks Timberdoodle!
Learning With The Movies
It took me several years to actually purchase this (Learning with the Movies)…I wasn’t sure that I could justify the price. Wow! I’m so glad I did! We’ve used it over and over again in selecting movies to accompany our studies. I keep it in our van, in a large ziplock (to protect from spills), and refer to it often. I frequently come across a movie at a thrift shop or garage sale that looks like it might be good…but what if it’s not…I hate to spend the money on a dud…so…I head for the van and pull out Learning With the Movies! We’ve discovered some real gems and have been spared those “duds”!
Keepers At Home Handbook
I love this little gem of a book. It has great ideas for teaching your daughter all of life’s most basic homemaking skills! Each new skill has book recommendations, projects, and scripture verses to memorize. My daughter and I really enjoy picking a skill and working on it together. It has given her an added incentive to memorize scripture and read the Bible all the way through as well. I have the older version, and can’t wait to see how they improved on the new one! I highly recommend this product! I also have the Contenders book, and like it as well.
Mother of 7, 2nd generation homeschooler
So relevant in our self-centered society! Each of my sons and nephews have their own copy and I pray they will pass it on to their sons! Excellent material for devotions for teens.
Lights the page not the room
I saw this (LightWedge) in the car of one of my friends one night. It was dark, and she did not like to drive with the light on. We had to read some materials, and her son pulled this LightWedge out. It was marvelous! We could read without the distraction of the overhead light in the car. It is perfect for travelers and for those who need to read in the dark. It is portable and easy to carry. I bought one for my father who has everything-except this!
