This (Typing Instructor for KIDS Platinum 5.0 Windows) is a nice, varied program that keeps my ADHD daughter’s interest. She has done well learning where the keys are and how to position her hands. The two major drawbacks to this program are that, one, the speaking voices can be rather annoying at times; and, two, as with any computer typing program, you’re going to have to monitor your child to make sure they’re really keeping their hands in the correct position. Otherwise, the games are fun and it does help them to learn to type.

Great family game!
This is a great game for families–it’s fun and challenging for all ages. The rule adaptations from the “original” Morphology are well-designed to make play easier for the younger kids, but it keeps the quirky/crazy feel.

As a former home school parent, I’ve been familiar with Timberdoodle for years. As a classroom teacher in public and private schools, when I needed quality, “thinking” games and activities for my classroom students, I continued to turn to Timberdoodle. I currently teach in Alaska. When I first discovered Anaconda in the fall of 2011, I thought it looked like the coolest logic puzzle ever. I purchased one for my resource classroom. Boys and girls ages 6-15 love Anaconda. Even some of my students who are learning disabled enjoy figuring out how to solve these puzzles with occasional help from me. I’ve watched children work together on one puzzle and enjoy sharing their ideas. Once one puzzle is accomplished, they are eager to move on to the next. Nobody is interested in looking at the solutions at the back of the book because they enjoy being ‘puzzled’ so much Adding more of these puzzles to my classroom arsenal is a given. One is not enough.

Child and family friendly Language Arts
As a parent to seven children and a homeschool graduate myself I cannot praise this program enough. Not only will you give your child an excellent language base, you will be doing so with the most gentle yet effective program available. There is no need to spend thousands per child nor hours each day to give your child an excellent education in reading /writing/grammar. This is the ONLY Language Arts program I will ever give 5 stars. It’s the perfect fit for most every teaching parent and child.
A Great Handwriting Program
We used A Reason for Handwriting last year. My son really liked decorating the pages and the people he gave them too really enjoyed them. People commented on his beautiful handwriting which greatly improved with this program. When it came to ordering a handwriting program this year he specifically asked to do A Reason For Handwriting again. It is an excellent program.
I am using JUMP at Home Grade 2 with my 8 year old daughter who has been struggling and not progressing in math. This program has been successful in helping her grasp concepts that she was unable to comprehend with other programs. Although the workbook pages are simple and straightforward, I have found that the teacher’s manual has been very beneficial and has helped my daughter by giving her added practice and additional information. The manual may be copied for free on the JUMP website. I have found that by including Daily Word Problems Grade 2 and Addition the Fun Way! to help memorize facts is providing a good foundation for my student that has always found math very difficult and confusing.
You are making me a loyal customer
This is the second year I have purchased curriculum packages from Timberdoodle for my 3 boys and once again I am not let down. This package does a great job of covering 95% of the state standards. It looks like an overwhelming amount of books but takes no more than 2 hours at most including breaks. The short lessons in each book keep things moving and interesting and a must with moving little boys. Good quality package. I am happy everyday I get this opportunity.
Fun way to learn history
I purchased How to Draw the Life and Times of Abraham Lincoln because it was a combination of history and art. When I got it, I was concerned that my boys would freak out a little because some of the drawings are rather challenging (and art is not our strong point), but they are learning a lot about the presidents and they are having fun with the drawings. Some of our drawings of people look a little unsophisticated, but it’s been fun to challenge ourselves.
Perfect for Young Children
I purchased Little Annie’s Art Book of Etiquette and Good Manners for our two little girls’ homeschooling curriculum this year… they absolutely fell in love with it from the very first day! “Little Annie” is so sweet and whimsical as she demonstrates manners, kindness, and proper etiquette, all while presenting Bible truths and teaching fun art lessons. The book seems mostly geared for girls, but our preschool age son enjoys the art projects as well. I love how these fun art lessons are laced with Scripture! This little lesson book covers everything from how to set a proper table to how to be a gracious friend. Highly recommended.
Challenges the “norm”…
This is our first year homeschooling our 2 school aged daughters who have already been in public school for a few years. I was so frustrated with how “cookie cutter” public education was, especially when it came to creativity. When I saw this book (Daily 6-Trait Writing Grade 2) I though, “huh, what good will such short lessons do?” I couldn’t have been more wrong!!! These short lessons do NOT take much time but they DO get your child thinking outside of the box and paying more attention to the ins and outs of writing. My 2nd grader is surprised by the challenge, but I love to see her rise up and face it. Thanks for such a great product!
