Extremely Wonderful!

My older sons LOVE the Extreme Dot-to-Dot books. It was very disheartening to see them "out-grow" doing dot-to-dot books. Although they still loved them, the typical dot-to-dot books were just to easy for them. I was thrilled when I Read more

Crocodile Creek Back Sack

Crocodile Creek Back Sack

Unbeatable Bargain of Usefulness!

I can’t imagine anyone regretting buying the Crocodile Creek Back Sack, especially at this price.  I got one for each of my kids (ages 6, 4.5, 2.5) and am so impressed with the quality–I expect them to last for years.  Yes, when cinched closed, the straps are long for kids my age, but it’s easy to knot them shorter until the kids get taller.  Great for letting the kids pack their special stuff for a trip.  I’ve also packed lunches for all of us and had my oldest carry them in his pack–worked great and gave him something to be responsible for.  Highly recommended.

Capture the Gag

Capture the Gag

Is there anything better than seeing your fussing fighting kids running around the house laughing, playing and working in teams? Capture the Gag has done that in my home. My children ages 3 to 9 did not seem to be able to play a game without fighting…but with Capture the Gag they laugh and work well together and enjoy their playing time with their siblings. This is well worth the money and also promotes good teamwork between groups of kids. 2 thumbs up for Capture the Gag!!!!

Beleduc Lacing Beads for Little Ones

Beleduc Lacing Beads for Little Ones

Beleduc Lacing Beads for Little Ones

I purchased a few products that would work well with my, at the time, 19 month old and 3 year old.  One of those products were Beleduc Lacing Beads.  With just a little help finding the hole, even the 19 month old can lace a bead and pull the lace through.  We talk about the shapes, the colors, and it helps with small motor.

For both my now 22 month old and 3 1/2 year old, they enjoy playing with the caterpillars as well.

Another great multi-use toy/learning tool from Timberdoodle :)

Knex Transportation Set

K'NEX Education Transportation Set

Incredible Set!

I purchased the Knex Transportation set many months ago for my eight and nine year old sons for Christmas.  I was so excited to give it to them and it was definitely worth the wait.  They both LOVE it!  They have built the majority of the models already.  There are a ton of models, they just devour them!  Most of the models inspire their own improvements, changes and ultimately their own designs.  I love what they learn building with Knex and how they can now “see” the infrastructure and build almost anything they choose to.  This is the first Knex set we have seen with design cards rather than a design book.  The cards are thick and high quality and allow multiple children to build multiple models simultaneously.  Incredible set!

Kid-O Bilibo

Kid-O Bilibo

Kid-O Bilibo

I bought one of these for my daughter’s second birthday a few months ago. All four of my children (ages 2, 4, 6, and 8) went totally wild over it. I wish I had bought four of them! It has been used in so many interesting ways and each child approaches it differently. You never know what the Bilibo is going do be doing on a given day– there is always something new to do with it.

The only complaint I have is that my 2-year-old quickly discovered that she could use it as a stepping stool to get into things she shouldn’t be able to reach (of course kids do this with lots of different toys.) So I can’t leave the Bilibo out lying around all the time. It has to be put away when playtime is over. But I still love it and I’m glad I bought it.

Thinking Putty – A favorite at our house!

Heat Sensitive Thinking Putty

Heat Sensitive Thinking Putty

We have 5 Thinking Puttys. They are very loved. I was amazed at how long the kids would sit and the table and entertain themselves with this. They really used their creativity! They have made all sorts of things. The littler one love to pinch little pieces off until the have a bunch of pieces and then they smash them all together. Others love to stretch and stretch it. I do have to watch out that they don’t mix the colors, plus you don’t want this in your carpet! With 4 girls, there is always some hair getting caught in the putty. It is pretty easy to get them out, though.

Metallic Colors Thinking Putty

Metallic Colors Thinking Putty

I bought this (Metallic Colors Thinking Putty) because it looked fun, and sometimes we all like to do something with our hands while listening or watching things. It has been marvelous, we love the metallic colours, are looking forward to getting some glow-in-the-dark putty. the one thing I would mention is that the heat-sensitive putty is not so effective in hot climates because it doesn’t cool down enough for hot hands to make a difference. Fun.

Bubber – Picture Review

Playing with Bubber

My 6 yr old daughter loves playing with Bubber. My daughter has Down syndrome which causes low-muscle tone so fine-motor activities can be difficult for her. With the light, soft texture she is able to easily manipulate the product. She is able to use the spoon knife and cut clean lines right through Bubber with no problems. It is also gluten-free which is a bonus since my daughter also has Celiac disease.

Wee Wedgits

Wee Wedgits

Wee Wedgits have been very popular with our baby! He was 9 months we he received them and he has played with them fairly regularly since. His older siblings enjoy them too. We will probably get a set of regular wedgits once the baby is old enough. My only disappointment with the toy is that they were described as being squishy soft and they are definitely harder than that. This has not deterred my son from chewing on them at all; that is his favorite thing to do with them!

Thinking Putty

Think Again!

Think again! We bought thinking putty as Christmas gifts for our children. It ended up in our daughter’s hair, on the carpet, on the couch…. It was worse than gum! We’re generally careful about where our children play with potentially messy toys, but as this is billed as an item to fiddle with while doing school, we allowed it in our schoolroom, aka family room. Big mistake! We called Timberdoodle to find out how to remove the putty from the carpet and they in turn called the company. We followed all the instructions and while the stickiness is gone, we still have lovely dark stains spotting the carpet. And our daughter had her hair trimmed….

Thinking Putty

They love it!

I originally bought the putty because it looked like a lot of fun and I needed something for my parents who really NEED nothing. My nine children are all grown and I already had Christmas gifts for my grandchildren that year. I wasn’t sure they would really use it, but they love it! They each set theirs (I bought different colors for each of them) beside their recliner and use it to exercise their hands while they watch TV. It helps keep their joints from being stiff, too. Just a warning-put it back in its container when you finish! It conforms to the shape of its container as it rests. If you put it in something with a small mouth you might not get it out very easily or if you leave it sitting in a ball it might spread out all over your table! Don’t worry though, you can scrape it up with itself and roll it up and start over. It is really addictive as anyone who sits in the chair and happens to pick it up will tell you! I have plans to purchase some for myself someday, but I haven’t needed enough items to make the cost plus shipping a reasonable price for something I just want and don’t need. The price on the item is good, but the shipping cost for just the one item makes it too expensive. Maybe I’ll have to convince some friends to go in with me and buy a case of it!
