Extremely Wonderful!

My older sons LOVE the Extreme Dot-to-Dot books. It was very disheartening to see them "out-grow" doing dot-to-dot books. Although they still loved them, the typical dot-to-dot books were just to easy for them. I was thrilled when I Read more

My older (4th grade and up) children LOVE these Extreme Dot to Dot Animals books! They take them in car rides and ask to do them to unwind from regular school work. They are so fun because, unlike simpler dot to dot puzzles, you really can’t tell what they are going to be so the curiosity builds as they push on to “reveal” the animal. (I may have been known to sneak in a puzzle when no one was looking :)

Mind Benders Beginning Book 1

Mind Benders Beginning Book 1

Great Intro to Thinking Skills!

Having never attempted any thinking skills type books, MindBenders were a great way to ease into them. Each puzzle gives the student a select amount of information in which he must use inference to deduct the missing information. We bought some of the beginning levels and Level A. While preparing for school in the summer, I figured I better try a few. They were so engaging, I spent the next two days working through each book. Critical Thinking gives permission to copy the pages for your family which makes them a great buy. However, we found that placing clear plastic pages over them and using dry erase markers worked well also. My children loved the challenge of the puzzles and now we can confidently move on to more advanced thinking skills books.

Macbeth – Graphic Shakespeare Graphic Novel

Macbeth - Graphic Shakespeare

As a literature major in college, I developed quite the affinity for The Bard. However, I have never agreed with the notion that Shakespeare plays should be read as they were written to be performed. But managing to take all eight children to regularly see Shakespeare has been challenging.

While we do enjoy DVDs of his plays in theatrical form from the library, it was the Graphic Novels that really brought an appreciation of Shakespeare into our home. The illustrations are engaging, several of the more famous lines from each play are quoted, and the cast of characters before the story begins is incredibly helpful. Several of our children are visual learners, which has made these graphic novels even more valuable.

We Dare You! Review by Vintage Indie

Upon delivery, I was meeting a friend at the park and happened to have the book with me. I’m somewhat of a compulsive reader and always have some sort of book with me. Anyway, we were discussing her upcoming science class and she was asking me for some easy science experiment ideas for her kindergarten co-op class. I pulled out the book and we started to brainstorm and gather easy almost no-materials required ideas. I lent her the book and offered to come into her class to help.

You’ll be surprised by how hard and tricky some of the experiments in this book are.

This book is full of fun and more in-depth experiments, over 312 pages worth! My boys are always up for a science experiment. When they aren’t building and experimenting themselves my youngest is always one to come and ask me for a fun experiment to try. I found this book to be invaluable, especially for two children who love hands on learning. Other experiments in the book require materials, but almost all can be easily found in your kitchen cupboard.

We thoroughly enjoy using it in our home school. When the kids are whining in our house, I’ll shout out a page number and tell them to go do a science experiment.

Great game!

Camouflage North Pole

Great game!

I bought this for our sons birthday and it was perfect for him. Actually the whole family loved it. We have four boys ages 4-11 and they all spent hours playing with it. The four year old basically just enjoyed fitting the different pieces together to cover the surface, but the rest of us really enjoyed the mental challenge of trying to solve the puzzle. I like that the levels progress from easy to very challenging. It’s great for road trips, too.

Preschool Timberdoodle Homeschool Curriculum 2012

Preschool Timberdoodle Homeschool Curriculum 2012

Absolutely impressed!

Our first impression of the Timberdoodle Company is that we are absolutely blown away by the quality of the products and materials as well as the variety of items provided. The ‘Preschool Timberdoodle Homeschool Curriculum 2012‘ package provided a wide array of items covering everything from math to science, fine and gross motor skills, & critical thinking and reasoning skills. It is obvious that every item was carefully reviewed and tested before being included in the kit. We are looking forward to engaging in every activity with our toddler! So far the biggest hit has been the Wedgits. Our son can’t seem to get enough time with these awesome building “blocks”! Thanks so much Timberdoodle for your careful consideration and high quality curriculum kit! We will definitely recommend this curriculum package to other parents/caregivers looking to start homeschooling activities with their toddler.

Language Lessons for Little Ones 3

Language Lessons for Little Ones 3

Child and family friendly Language Arts

As a parent to seven children and a homeschool graduate myself I cannot praise this program enough. Not only will you give your child an excellent language base, you will be doing so with the most gentle yet effective program available. There is no need to spend thousands per child nor hours each day to give your child an excellent education in reading /writing/grammar. This is the ONLY Language Arts program I will ever give 5 stars. It’s the perfect fit for most every teaching parent and child.

Key To Fractions Math

Key To Fractions

“I am pleased with this product”

“This product has really been a gem in teaching my 9 yrs old daughters’ fraction concepts. The lessons are incremental, step by step and in a strange way fun. There is some review in the beginning of each book of the prior materials taught in the previous book except of course for the first one. One gripe I may have is that it doesn’t explain exactly what happens when you multiply fractions. It shows you the steps of how to do the problem but no explanation of how and why. I was hoping for some kind of explanation with the circles or bars or something like that. The books are not meant to be math spine book but still it should have that extra component in my humble opinion. Many books don’t explain that concept well and I am sure Key To Fractions would do great job of explaining it in a simple way. I will be ordering all the other books as well and we will be cycling through all the books in one year. Book 1 fractions, decimals, metric measurement, measurement then book 2 ….”

Heidi – Audio Book

Heidi - Audio Book

Delightful! This is beautifully simple audio story. The narrator drew us in and held us captive. My children are 7, 5, 3 and 2.5, they all sat and worked on puzzles or hung on the couch listening. We cried with Heidi when she missed home, laughed at the scampering goats and learned compassion as Heidi saved her rolls for Grandma. My children are asking for “more stories!” Thanks Timber!! Highly recommend.
