Extremely Wonderful!

My older sons LOVE the Extreme Dot-to-Dot books. It was very disheartening to see them "out-grow" doing dot-to-dot books. Although they still loved them, the typical dot-to-dot books were just to easy for them. I was thrilled when I Read more

Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology Notebooking Journal

Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology Notebooking Journal

I won’t use anything else!

Last year was the first year we tried the (Apologia) notebooking journals, and it was with this one – Human Anatomy and Physiology. I won’t turn back! I used to have the kids take notes and verbally answer some random questions. How boring! This was EXACTLY what we needed to add to complete our science curriculum. My 5th grader remembered SO much more because of this journal and it is something we will keep for review. WELL DONE! I need these for all my subjects!

Max Axiom Graphic Science Set of 15

Max Axiom Graphic Science Set of 15

Excellent books-Kids love them (so do we!)

My kids just love these books (Max Axiom Graphic Science Set of 15)! The information contained in them is more in-depth than you may think for a graphic book. Real scientists were consulted and it shows. It is presented in an engaging yet thorough format. I was not a fan of graphic books before this purchase so I am amazed at how much I have enjoyed these. We are creationists so please note that on pgs 8,9,11&16 of the Earthquakes book there are small references to millions of years as well as the Volcanoes book on pgs 11,13&21and Magnetism pg 17. The other 12 books had no mention of millions of years. These references are small and easy to line through without disrupting the flow of the text and can be used as an opportunity to point out differences in understanding. I wouldn’t let those minor mentions keep you from purchasing what truly are fun and informative books your kids are sure to enjoy! You may even find yourself to be ‘scientifically refreshed’ as well!

Christian Kids Explore Earth & Space

Christian Kids Explore Earth & Space

I used this book last year for my 6th and 2nd graders. It worked beautifully for both of them. I read the lessons aloud to them together, and we did the experiments and activities together. I chose supplemental library books for them at their own levels, and their notebook pages were done at their own levels. My only complaint is that the astronomy section is very light, so I ended up puttting together my own unit using library books. However, since I wanted the majority of the year to be spent on earth science, this was only an inconvenience. We will be using Christian Kids Explore Chemistry this year for my now 7th and 3rd graders.

Make Your Own Snowman World Kit

Make Your Own Snowman World Kit

Unintentionally Hysterical

I was a bit surprised that our kids liked this (Make Your Own Snowman World Kit) as much as they did. Watching snowballs & ice cubes expand in water isn’t much fun, though, so let ‘em soak the night before. (3- hours and they’re marble-sized.) Follow the snow-making directions exactly and your kids will ooohh and aaahh just like mine. Our 5 (11-22) spent three hours making little wintry scenes, laughing hysterically. The small colored balls included for eyes and buttons run quite a bit leading to some truly funny snowmen. The directions say if one simply lets the stuff dry out it can be used again. However, after four weeks, our showballs and ice cubes were still rather large. We ended up throwing ours out and feeling smart for having ordered two kits. While I’m not sure the mfgs intended to make us laugh as much as we did, this product is totally worth the time, the very little $$, and the slight mess it makes, and is appropriate for summer and winter. (Fall and spring? You should go outside and play!)

Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology

Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology

Wow!  I was so impressed with this book.  Anatomy and Physiology can be so complicated, yet this book broke it down perfectly for my 5th grader and I was floored at how easily he retained the knowledge presented.  This was the first time I bought the notebooking journal because I knew I wouldn’t be able to give him as much help this year.  I now plan to buy the notebooking journals for this series for my younger kids as well!  It really helped to expand and cement the material.  I have sold all my other science curriculum and moved solely to Apologia!  The personal style and way things are explained work so well for our comprehension!

Biology 101 DVD

Biology 101 DVD

Fantastic DVD Course!

We love Biology 101!  Although our children are younger than the targeted age (4, 6, 9, 10, and 13), it works wonderfully as a supplement to the Apologia Young Explorer Series because it also approaches biology from the Creation order.  Each lesson is clear, interesting, and God-glorifying.  It is packed with information in a very enjoyable way.  The product of each Day of Creation is discussed in detail.  I have found it very beneficial to watch the section (i.e. Botany, Avian Creatures, etc) many times throughout our study and also use the short lesson on a specific topic to introduce the specific chapter we are studying in Apologia.  The 114 page guidebook (included as a pdf on dsic 4) is a huge asset to the course and is filled with all kinds of information and also quizzes.  I am thrilled at how much my children are learning (and retaining) about biology in such a fun and biblically accurate way.  I feel it is a huge value for the price and I highly recommend it!

Mind Blowing Science – Fun preschool chemistry

Scientific Explorer's Mind Blowing Science Kit for Young Scientists

This kit includes 12 simple experiments that were fun for our three and four year old. At this age, much of our science occurs outdoors exploring insects, animals, the garden, and nature. We used this kit in the winter months when everything outside was frozen. Our kids enjoyed all the color changing experiments and making the fizzing volcanoes. The experiments were easy to do and without the kit I am not sure we would have done them.

Primary Science Set by Learning Resources

Primary Science Set by Learning Resources

Primary Science Set by Learning Resources

We purchased the Primary Science Set as a Christmas git for our 4 year old, and she has had a blast with it.  She is able to gather the supplies and do the experiments with help from us.  The goggles are perfect, and the big tweezers are easy for her to use.  I wish there were a few more experiments, but it is a wonderful product anyway.  I would recommend this to anyone who has young children to get them interested in science at an early age!

Knex Transportation Set

K'NEX Education Transportation Set

Incredible Set!

I purchased the Knex Transportation set many months ago for my eight and nine year old sons for Christmas.  I was so excited to give it to them and it was definitely worth the wait.  They both LOVE it!  They have built the majority of the models already.  There are a ton of models, they just devour them!  Most of the models inspire their own improvements, changes and ultimately their own designs.  I love what they learn building with Knex and how they can now “see” the infrastructure and build almost anything they choose to.  This is the first Knex set we have seen with design cards rather than a design book.  The cards are thick and high quality and allow multiple children to build multiple models simultaneously.  Incredible set!

Electronic Snap Circuits Pro Kit

Electronic Snap Circuits Pro Kit

Really slick, works with younger children, too!

When my husband told me to order this (Electronic Snap Circuits Pro Kit) and the guides for our 6 and 4 yo girls for Christmas, I had my doubts. Our 6yo has been wanting to learn about electricity, so we’ve turned this into a unit study. I wanted to share what we’re doing. We DO NOT turn them loose with this – many small parts, we have babies. I’m a member of ABCTeach.com, and there’s lots of great pages on there to use. Although both of our oldest can read well, I read the info from the study guide to them and we discuss it, then we do the project. We have discussed things like electrical tape, plug safety, house wiring, atoms, etc…. I let the 6yo read and follow the directions on her own after we’ve done the project as a family. When we were discussing electrical safety around water, my husband pulled out the kit and used it to demonstrate how water can conduct electricity, using the water alarm project – GREAT visual! This is a product we can see growing with and using over many years! Highly recommended!
