Extremely Wonderful!

My older sons LOVE the Extreme Dot-to-Dot books. It was very disheartening to see them "out-grow" doing dot-to-dot books. Although they still loved them, the typical dot-to-dot books were just to easy for them. I was thrilled when I Read more

Guidecraft 3D Feel & Find

Guidecraft 3D Feel & Find

Simple, creative learning opportunity

The 3-D Feel & Find is a helpful component of our homeschool.  It has multiple uses for multiple ages.  It is a very simple toy/game, which I like, but it still provides challenge to several age levels.  My younger children use the puzzles outside of the bag to match the shapes, which include basic shapes as well as people, trees and animals, to their wooden opening.  My older children are able to match the pieces while they are still in the bag and thus unseen, developing their sense of touch better.  Additionally, the game is good for teaching shapes and colors. The pieces can be further used for role-playing with the people and the animals.   All the pieces store in a durable drawstring canvas bag.  The puzzle pieces can be used also without the wooden bases to role play.  Note that the box depicts pieces that may not be identical to the inside contents in terms of the specific shapes, but they are basically like what is shown.

Fun Educational toy

Educo Colorback Sea Turtle Bead Maze

This turtle maze is appealing in various ways. It is a fun quiet toy for your child to play with, without making a mess or losing pieces. It teaches good manual skills, and mental skills, as well. As they begin, they will just work on the ability to move the balls around, but eventually they will begin matching the colors and bring up the skill level a notch.

OLLO Action Kit

OLLO Action Kit

We bought this (OLLO Action Kit) for our science loving 7 year old for his birthday.  It is like an erector set with a battery pack.  We knew it was going to be one of those toys where an adult would have to assist in the building of it, but that was ok with us.  Right away our son and his dad built 2 of the creations: the windmill and the puppy.  The fact that the battery pack makes them work (backwards and forwards) was great fun.  He was proud of himself for being able to mostly build it.  I hope to buy an additional set for Christmas.   This will be a toy that will be played with again and again.

It does have small pieces, but afterall, it is recommended for children ages 8 and up.

Tolo Shape Sorter Play Bench

Tolo Shape Sorter Play Bench

I received this set a few weeks ago for our children, ages 7, 5, 3 and 10 months old.  It has been a perfect fit for our young family!

The older kids enjoy the play bench as much as the little ones do!  It’s great to watch them teach their younger siblings colors and shapes as they all play together.

Our three-old son LOVES the hammer!  He can work with his tools just like Daddy.  :)  Since the hammer is attached to the play bench by a cord, we don’t have to worry about it getting misplaced.

At 10-months old, our little guy enjoys shaking the rattley shapes more than anything!  The shapes are bright and colorful, just a tad noisy, and the perect size for his chubby little hands.

The Tolo Shape Sorter Play Bench is an all around favorite at our house!

Titanic – Game

Titanic

Challenging and fun

I bought this logic game (Titanic) with my 13 year-old in mind, but sadly, it never made it that far … my 9 year-old snagged it, and hasn’t let his sister get hold of it yet! This is a challenging, thought-provoking game that uses a neat historical tie-in to spur interest even in kids who don’t normally “go for” logic puzzles. The card challenges progress in difficulty, and many at the upper levels have left our older family members stumped. Definitely a winner!

Crocodile Creek Back Sack

Crocodile Creek Back Sack

Unbeatable Bargain of Usefulness!

I can’t imagine anyone regretting buying the Crocodile Creek Back Sack, especially at this price.  I got one for each of my kids (ages 6, 4.5, 2.5) and am so impressed with the quality–I expect them to last for years.  Yes, when cinched closed, the straps are long for kids my age, but it’s easy to knot them shorter until the kids get taller.  Great for letting the kids pack their special stuff for a trip.  I’ve also packed lunches for all of us and had my oldest carry them in his pack–worked great and gave him something to be responsible for.  Highly recommended.

Mashoonga Sabers

Mashoonga Warrior Sabers Set

Birthday Hit!

I bought this set for my nephews 15th birthday. They battled “Mashoonga” with their dad until midnight and loved it. It even won out over the other “toy” they received, which was a playstation game!

Parma, ID

We requested Mashoonga sets for Christmas, after being disappointed with Nerf swords.  We have had many hours of fun with Mashoonga.  They are soft enough that all the family can “fight” each other, but firm in the center to give good support.  Injuries are few and minor.   Our boys are 8, 11, and 13 years old.

GoGlider Bicycle

Our 7 year old son was having a hard time learning to ride a bike and he really wanted to do it by his 8th birthday. We got him this glider for Christmas and he began gliding. In April, 2 weeks before his birthday, he decided he was ready to try his regular bike. So, with no training wheels and no help from us, he got on his ‘regular’ bike and took off. He was riding like a pro, never fell, and within 10 minutes was attempting tricks. GoGlider Rocks! It changed bike riding from a stressful, scary endeavor, to loads of fun. Now my 6 yr old is riding it and can’t wait until he’s ready for a ‘regular’ bike too.

Capture the Gag

Capture the Gag

Is there anything better than seeing your fussing fighting kids running around the house laughing, playing and working in teams? Capture the Gag has done that in my home. My children ages 3 to 9 did not seem to be able to play a game without fighting…but with Capture the Gag they laugh and work well together and enjoy their playing time with their siblings. This is well worth the money and also promotes good teamwork between groups of kids. 2 thumbs up for Capture the Gag!!!!

Wahoo – it really IS the perfect puppy

Wahoo

it really IS the perfect puppy

What a fun bouncy for ALL ages. It is pricey but I am able to share it with a friend. We take turns and the kids never really tire of it. (not that they would if we didn’t??) It has seated and bounced my 200 pound husband to my tiny 1-yr. old and is no worse for the wear. I will say, you have to blow it up less for a smaller child whose legs can’t reach the floor to get their “bounce” on. DEFINITELY worth the money. Oh, and we’ve bounced it out on the concrete several times and I don’t have any worries about the wear on the rubber at all. VERY thick!
