Post-Horse stress

watching

Boone and I were a bit rattled after what felt like such a narrow escape. In reality we knew the mares were both friendly, but feeling their warm breath on our faces while knowing that one snort would blow us away was unnerving, even for intrepid adventurers like ourselves!

Once we caught our breath we were ready to finish up our task list for the morning and fix the gate’s alignment.

Horses - friends or foes?

Boone and I took a turn feeding the horses

carrying the hay

As the horses approached, we used all due caution, but continued to do the necessary work.

hurrying to finish

Suddenly the younger mare loped up, petrifying me and startling Boone.

Playing with the kids

We loved watching our fellow adventurers practice for future episodes of peril and fun.

She was adventurous!

Krissy is very strong

After a long day though, we were quite content to watch comfortably from our perch.

Spun out

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

After the Bonnie incident, Boone and I decided to hang out at the playground for awhile. I wanted to try out the tire swing, and Boone agreed that swinging sounded great.

Tire swing

I found it relaxing, and Boone tried to get the hang of it.

The more we swung, the more I relaxed, and the more distressed he became.

Boone gives up

Good thing no one expects brothers to always enjoy the same things!

Near-miss on the soccer field

Playing soccer

The weather broke here, and the temperature plummeted from over 100 degrees down to 60. Boone and I took advantage of the cool and went out to kick a ball around - if only we’d been more careful in our ball selection. Evidently the ball we chose belongs to Bonnie, the family Border Collie.

look up

Krissy was quite concerned for our safety.

Krissy concernec

She rapidly called off the dog and yelled an “all clear” to us, then we scurried away from the ball as fast as we could!

Moping aside - the fun begins!

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

As we sat there and tried to figure out what to do with our weekend, we suddenly realized it was the perfect opportunity to begin doing some of the yard work we’d been putting off.

I tied the weeds to the cycle, and Boone drove

I have never seen this method of weed control used before, but we were astonished at how quickly and easily the weeds came out when we put our trusty motorcycle into service!
Here it goes!

We spent every spare moment at this, and made some great progress in the flower bed.

Goodbye

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

They rounded the corner just as we began to pick up speed, and we soon realized that pursuit was impractical, and glumly waved goodbye.

waving as the trailer disappeared around the corner

We later found that in the confusion of last minute packing they didn’t realize we’d been left until it was too late to return. Still, it was a gloomy way for us to begin the morning.

Left behind!

After all our work preparing for the WATCH conference you can imagine our dismay when we realized that the family had left without us.

As they paused at the top of the driveway we grabbed our motorcycle and attempted to alert them to their mistake.

Delicious!

Superb cake indeed, but the frosting was superior even to that!

Boone was full fast

Annoyingly, Boone was “Stuffed!” almost immediately, leaving me to finish up by myself.

one would think I had a hollow leg!
