Spun out

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

After the Bonnie incident, Boone and I decided to hang out at the playground for awhile. I wanted to try out the tire swing, and Boone agreed that swinging sounded great.

Tire swing

I found it relaxing, and Boone tried to get the hang of it.

The more we swung, the more I relaxed, and the more distressed he became.

Boone gives up

Good thing no one expects brothers to always enjoy the same things!

Near-miss on the soccer field

Playing soccer

The weather broke here, and the temperature plummeted from over 100 degrees down to 60. Boone and I took advantage of the cool and went out to kick a ball around - if only we’d been more careful in our ball selection. Evidently the ball we chose belongs to Bonnie, the family Border Collie.

look up

Krissy was quite concerned for our safety.

She rapidly called off the dog and yelled an “all clear” to us, then we scurried away from the ball as fast as we could!

Moping aside - the fun begins!

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

As we sat there and tried to figure out what to do with our weekend, we suddenly realized it was the perfect opportunity to begin doing some of the yard work we’d been putting off.

I tied the weeds to the cycle, and Boone drove

I have never seen this method of weed control used before, but we were astonished at how quickly and easily the weeds came out when we put our trusty motorcycle into service!
Here it goes!

We spent every spare moment at this, and made some great progress in the flower bed.

Goodbye

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

They rounded the corner just as we began to pick up speed, and we soon realized that pursuit was impractical, and glumly waved goodbye.

waving as the trailer disappeared around the corner

We later found that in the confusion of last minute packing they didn’t realize we’d been left until it was too late to return. Still, it was a gloomy way for us to begin the morning.

Left behind!

After all our work preparing for the WATCH conference you can imagine our dismay when we realized that the family had left without us.

As they paused at the top of the driveway we grabbed our motorcycle and attempted to alert them to their mistake.

Delicious!

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

Superb cake indeed, but the frosting was superior even to that!

Boone was full fast

Annoyingly, Boone was “Stuffed!” almost immediately, leaving me to finish up by myself.

one would think I had a hollow leg!

30th Anniversary

Published by Haak under adventures at home, all adventures

Dan & Deb’s 30th anniversary was yesterday, so the kids all pitched in to fix a special meal. Spice cake with penuche frosting is a Stikfa favorite, so Boone and I were delighted to get a chance to share in the celebration.

\"A bit to your left, my right.\"

I ran the fork and Boone directed me, which was by far the best method we’ve used for accessing such a delicious treat.

\"Now straight back!\"

Gaining entry

We sucessfully reached the aquarium, only to find that accessing the fish for training was more arduous than we had anticipated.  Glass is difficult to climb!

WATCH starts a week from today!

Training for future fish Olympics?

Lugging all our equipment proved to be a rigorous task which required both of our full attentions. Even with that effort, we initially left the important soccer ball behind!

now we\'ve got it all

If all goes well, we will be showing off trick trained fish at the WATCH conference next week!
